TAMPA, Fla. — The Yankees made their signing of Chan Ho Park official on Sunday, which meant they had to open a spot on the 40-man roster. It was Edwar Ramirez who paid the price.
Ramirez was designated for assignment, leaving the Yankees 10 days to either trade him or attempt to pass him through waivers.
"Selfishly, we hope we can keep him in the organization," general manager Brian Cashman said. "But we'll know here in the next 10 days how realistic that is."
Maybe I'm nuts, but I'd bet that if given the opportunity, Edwar would out pitch Park. I guess he'll get that opportunity in Washington or something now.
